Thank you to everyone who attended the 11th Annual Salt Lake County Watershed Symposium! This free two-day conference encourages a comprehensive review of the current state of our watershed while creating learning opportunities for a diverse array of stakeholders. Sessions covered a broad range of topics on water quality and watershed issues with local, regional, and national relevance. Hosted by Salt Lake County Watershed Planning & Restoration.

Ron Lund is the Environmental Health Director at Salt Lake County Health Department.  A large portion of his 22-year career has been working on a 24-hour response team responding to Health Department issues with police, fire, and governmental agencies.  Ron works on the Salt Lake County LEPC.  He has been involved with Environmental Crimes investigations, COVID response and Incident Command roles and support, Red Butte Oil Spill, and works with the Health Department’s Emergency Management team.  A favorite part of his work is as a liaison in the Incident Command Structure when responding to HAZMAT events. Ron trains for the Western States Project, a entity focusing on preparing regulators, law enforcement, and attorneys concerning civil and criminal environmental investigations.

Ron is currently the Vice Chair for the State Hazardous Chemical Emergency Response Commission Advisory (SERCA).
